Fed Up w/ Trying to Control Acne?

Those of you who are constantly dealing with acne whether it's based on hormones, stress, and or consumption of different types of foods that just don't agree with your system, I have found something that actually works without drying your skin out so much that after you have washed your face it feels soft to the touch!

In order to really fight the acne battle without drying and further damaging one's skin there needs to be certain ingredients-

Benzoyl PeroxideBenzoyl peroxide is a breakthrough, time-released, powerful acne-fighting medication available without a prescription. Benzoyl peroxide is easily absorbed into pores where it works by interfering with acne bacterial metabolism through oxidation. Benzoyl peroxide has an antibacterial effect. It also has a mild drying effect, which allows excess oils and dirt to be easily washed away.
Polyethylene Tiny micro beads that gently exfoliate the skin.
Zinc PCA (Zincidone) Zinc PCA, the salt form of zinc, an essential mineral, and pidolic acid (PCA), which is included in the Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF), have exhibited a reduction in sebum flow.
Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract & Poterium Officinale Root Extract (Sebustop)A complex of phytoactive substances from burnet roots, ginger rhizomes and cinnamon is especially designed to help support normal oil production by reducing pore diameter and bacterial proliferation.
Butylene Glycol, PEG-60 Almond Glycerides, Caprylyl Glycol, Glycerin, Carbomer, Nordihydroguaiaretic Acid & Oleanolic Acid (Ac.net) An association of oleanolic acid and nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA) in an osmotic gel. Ac.net fights “breakout” by helping maintain normal hyperseborrhoea, hyperkeratosis and bacterial proliferation.
Sodium HyaluronateSodium hyaluronate works to moisturize the skin and hair, and is said to be able to hold more than 1,000 times its own weight in water. By helping to keep your skin and hair hydrated, it helps your skin to feel smooth and supple, and increases your hair’s shine and manageability.
Butyl Avocadate (Avocutine)Butyl avocadate is a patented, active ingredient derived from avocado pears to help support normal oil control for skin.

In the Timeless Prescription® 3 Step Acne Care System the first step is of course the cleanser and those mentioned above are the key ingredient, the other 2 steps in this system is a Toner and Moisturizer.
I highly recommend this system if you struggling with acne and truly have not resolved this common skin care issue. But if you need more proof, I understand, you can read the following testimonials directly from the site of purchase!

Comments about Market America Timeless Prescription 3 Step Acne Care System:
I've been using the Timeless Prescription 3 Step Acne Care System for about three months. I had been on Proactiv on and off since high school, as well as trying other products from major beauty care lines, and various over-the-counter products... nothing ever seemed to work and only dried out my skin. Using this system in combination with the Prevaderm has dramatically improved my skin. I use it twice a day, and take the Prevaderm morning and night. I've noticed that if i skip a day or two of either product, my skin will begin to break out. So the most helpful advice is keeping consistent with both, and not to pick at your face!! Also, my skin is sensitive, so I've needed to use an oil-free moisturizer.

I have also been using the Timeless Prescription anti-blemish lotion (the pink small bottle). Putting this on my blemishes at night and leaving it on helps a LOT! It's a great feeling to wear less make-up, and not feel so insecure as an adult with problem skin! I DEFINITELY recommend trying these products. The price is worth the results.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

How To Lose Weight - And Keep it OFF

Being overweight is not only uncomfortable, both physically and emotionally, it truly plays havoc with the body's ability to function 100%.

Maintaining one's own beauty standards does not stop at what makeup and skin care products and or DYI formulas offer, but how we take care of ourselves internally.

What do we put in our bodies to fuel and keep us going that actually is creating dis-ease and making the metabolic system work harder to utilize those foods and in turn, creating medical problems including our outer appearance, i.e., our skin to reflect the dis-ease? We must learn how to take care and fuel our systems for the task at hand properly so that the energies are good, as well as our skin reflecting how we feel. Read a previous post regarding Boosting Skin Health From Within
giving you details on what nutrients and foods can help your skin and body from within.

Below is a  video from TLS because to  help you identify what changes you need to make in order create a balanced system both inside and out. Below the video is an outline of what is address.

Feel free to contact me if you would like to talk....

This video explains why you may struggle with their weight and what has and does negatively affect your metabolism and hormones.

1. Yo-Yo Dieting -- Losing and gaining significant amounts of weight over and over again. A few pounds on, a few pounds off, a few pounds on, a few pounds off and so on and so forth.

2. Crash Dieting -- Severe calorie restriction and cutting out entire food groups.

3. Sedentary Lifestyle -- Getting too little exercise.

4. Garbage In -- Over fed and under nourished. Overeating the wrong foods and receiving too little nourishment for your body to operate optimally.

5. Stress & Adrenal Fatigue -- Being on constant alert due to physical and emotional pressures. This negatively affects both your hormones and metabolism.

New Research on Coffee - Intake of Antioxidants

You know how I love my coffee and like so many others we make sure we don't miss our cup of java especially in the morning. There are numerous benefits of drinking coffee on a daily basis, as well as DIY Coffee Scrub  (posted in February), as well as 3 specific benefits coffee directly provides for the skin.

Now there's new research from The Journal of Nutrition identifying that drinking coffee provides more antioxidants than and is just as helpful as eating fruits and vegetables to help reduces the risk of major chronic degenerative diseases.

"The objective of this study was to determine the contribution of various food groups to total antioxidant intake, and to assess the correlations of the total antioxidant intake from various food groups with plasma antioxidants." The results they found in the study were significant.

"The intake of total antioxidants was significantly correlated with plasma lutein, zeaxanthin, and lycopene. Among individual food groups, coffee, wine, and vegetables were significantly correlated with dietary zeaxanthin, β-carotene, and α-carotene. These data agree with the hypothesis that dietary antioxidants other than the well-known antioxidants contribute to our antioxidant defense. Surprisingly, the single greatest contributor to the total antioxidant intake was coffee."

They also found that regular coffee consumption delays the onset of Alzheimer's disease and protects against type 2 diabetes.

So folks who have been drinking coffee,  keep your cup of java close to hand daily! for those how have to drink it with all the additives, give a straight 'hightess' try and you just may enjoy it even better while your body thanks you!

9 Tips to Help Balance Hormones

I found this article on Pinterest (wellnessmama.com) and felt it would benefit you or someone you know, so pass it along....

"If you have symptoms like fatigue, skin issues, weight gain, weight around the middle, trouble sleeping, always sleeping, PMS, endometriosis, infertility, PCOS or other issues, chances are you have hormone imbalance!"

When it comes to health, hormones and gut bacteria have a much bigger effect than many people realize. In fact, these two factors can destroy health even if everything else (diet, supplements, etc) is optimized. Conversely, fixing hormones and gut bacteria can do a lot to boost health, even if not all the other factors are optimal. In fact, there are even studies about using certain hormone reactions to heal brain trauma

What are Hormones?

“Hormones are your body’s chemical messengers. They travel in your bloodstream to tissues or organs. They work slowly, over time, and affect many different processes, including
  • Growth and development
  • Metabolism – how your body gets energy from the foods you eat
  • Sexual function
  • Reproduction
  • Mood
Endocrine glands, which are special groups of cells, make hormones. The major endocrine glands are the pituitary, pineal, thymus, thyroid, adrenal glands and pancreas. In addition, men produce hormones in their testes and women produce them in their ovaries.” (source)
Hormones are produced using good fats and cholesterol, so lack of these important dietary factors can cause hormone problems simply because the body doesn’t have the building blocks to make them. Toxins containing chemicals that mimic these building blocks or that mimic the hormones themselves are also problematic because the body can attempt to create hormones using the wrong building blocks… mutant estrogen anyone?
The endocrine system is a complex system that we will probably never completely understand, but there are some basic things you can do to boost your  body’s ability to create and balance hormones:

1. Avoid High Omega-6 Polyunsaturated Fats

I’ve talked about this before, but the body is simply not meant to consume these man-made fats found in vegetable oils. From that article:
The human body is about 97% saturated and monounsaturated fat, with only 3 % Polyunsaturated fats. Half of that three percent is Omega-3 fats, and that balance needs to be there. Vegetable oils contain very high levels of polyunsaturated fats, and these oils have replaced many of the saturated fats in our diets since the 1950s.
The body needs fats for rebuilding cells and hormone production, but it has to use the building blocks we give it. When we give it a high concentration of polyunsaturated fats instead of the ratios it needs, it has no choice but to incorporate these fats into our cells during cell repair and creation.
The problem is that polyunsaturated fats are highly unstable and oxidize easily in the body (if they haven’t already oxidized during processing or by light exposure while sitting on the grocery store shelf). These oxidized fats cause inflammation and mutation in cells.
In arterial cells, these mutations cause inflammation that can clog arteries. When these fats are incorporated into skin cells, their mutation causes skin cancer. (This is why people often get the most dangerous forms of skin cancer in places where they are never exposed to the sun, but that is a topic for another day!)
When these oils are incorporated into cells in reproductive tissue, some evidence suggests that this can spur problems like endometriosis and PCOS. In short, the body is made up of saturated and monounsaturated fats, and it needs these for optimal health.”
Bottom line: Don’t eat fats like Vegetable oil, peanut oil, canola oil, soybean oil, margarine, shortening or other chemically altered fats. Choose fats like coconut oil, real butter, olive oil (don’t heat!) and animal fats (tallow, lard) from healthy sources instead and eat lots of high Omega-3 fish.

2. Limit the Caffeine

I love coffee, a lot, but the truth is that too much caffeine can wreak havoc on the endocrine system, especially if there are other hormone stressors involved too like pregnancy, presence of toxins, beneficial fat imbalance or stress.
Cut down the coffee if you can, or replace with beneficial herbal teas (a list of my favorite recipes coming soon!). If you can’t or won’t cut the coffee, use it as a way to sneak in your beneficial fats by adding 1 tablespoon coconut oil to each cup and blending in the blender to emulsify. It is like a latte but with healthy fats!

3. Avoid Toxins

Toxins found in pesticides, plastics, household chemicals and even mattresses can contain hormone disrupting chemicals that mimic hormones in the body and keep the body from producing real hormones. Things like hormonal birth control can (obviously) do the same thing.
If you have hormone imbalance or are struggling to get pregnant, avoiding these toxins is very important! Cook in glass or non-coated metal pans (no non-stick or teflon!) and avoid heating or storing foods in plastic. Find organic produce and meat whenever possible and don’t use chemical pesticides or cleaners. There are recipes for natural cleaners on this page.

4. SLEEP

Can’t emphasize this one enough (tried with the all-caps-yelling though)! If you aren’t getting enough sleep, your hormone will not be balanced. Period.
Use these tips to help improve your sleep and just do it! This can single handedly improve hormones and is even linked to longer life, less chance of disease and optimizing weight.

5. Supplement Wisely

In a perfect world, we would be rising and sleeping with the sun, getting Vitamin D from the sun and Magnesium from the ocean while relaxing and exercising in great balance each day in a stress-free world. Since I doubt that describes any of us currently, supplements can fill in the gaps. I’ve talked about the basic supplements that I take before, but there are some specific ones that are helpful for hormone support.
  • Maca- A tuber in the radish family that has a history of boosting hormone production and libido. Many women notice less PMS, increased fertility, and improved skin while men notice increased sperm production, libido and better sleep. Maca is also high in minerals and essential fatty acids, making it great for hormones.  It is available in powder form (least expensive option) or in capsules.
  • Magnesium- Magnesium supports hundreds of reactions in the body and often contributes to better sleep (which is great for hormones!). There are several effective forms of Magnesium: In powder form with a product like Natural Calm so that you can vary your dose and work up slowly,  ionic liquid form  can be added to food and drinks and dose can be worked up slowly,or  transdermal form by using Magnesium oil applied to skin. This is often the most effective option for those with damaged digestive tract or severe deficiency.
  • Vitamin D- A pre-hormone is supportive of hormone function. Best obtained from the sun if possible, or from a D3 supplement or Fermented Cod Liver Oil.
  • Fermented Cod Liver Oil- Provides many of the necessary building blocks for hormone production including Vitamins A, D, and K. It also is a great source of Omega-3s and beneficial fats.
  • Gelatin is a great source of calcium, magnesium and phosphate. It supports hormone production and digestive health and helps sooth inflammation, especially in joints. We use Great Lakes Kosher as I was able to verify with the company that it is sourced from grass-fed, humanely raised cows, and as such is higher in nutrients.

6. Exercise Lightly

If you have hormone imbalance, intense extended exercise can actually make the problem worse in the short term. Sleep is actually more important, at least during the balancing phase, so focus on relaxing exercises like walking or swimming and avoid the extended running, cardio and exercise videos, for now….

7. Lift Heavy Weights

While extended cardio can be bad, short bursts of heavy lifting (kettlebells, deadlifts, squats, lunges) can be beneficial since they trigger a cascade of beneficial hormone reactions. Aim for a few sets (5-7) at a weight that really challenges your, but make sure to get help with form and training if you haven’t done these before as bad form can be harmful!

8. Eat Some Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil is amazing for hormone health. It provides the necessary building blocks for hormone production, can assist weight loss, reduce inflammation, and even has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.
If you really need hormone help, aim to consume 1/4 cup of added coconut oil a day. My favorite way is to blend into coffee or tea. This is the highest quality one I’ve found.

9. Fix Your Leptin

Leptin is a master hormone, and if it is out of balance or if you are resistant to it, no other hormones will balance well. Fixing leptin will also help boost fertility, make weight loss easier, improve sleep, and lower inflammation.

Source:

I have added here what is listed on how to fix your Leptin from the website:

"...In short, the (non-negotiable) factors that will help improve leptin response are:
  • Eating little to no simple starches, refined foods, sugars and fructose
  • Consuming a large amount of protein and healthy fats first thing in the morning, as soon after waking as possible. This promotes satiety and gives the body the building blocks to make hormones. My go-to is a large scramble with 2-3 eggs, vegetables and left over meat from the night before cooked in coconut oil.
  • Be in bed by ten (no excuses) and optimize your sleep!
  • Get outside during the day, preferably barefoot on the ground, in mid-day sun with some skin exposed. There are many reasons this is helpful and I’ll be explaining them soon)
  • DON’T SNACK!!! When you are constantly eating, even small amounts, during the day it keeps your liver working and doesn’t give hormones a break. Try to space meals at least 4 hours apart and don’t eat for at least 4 hours before bed. This includes drinks with calories but herbal teas, water, coffee or tea without cream or sugar are fine.
  • Don’t workout at first. If you are really Leptin resistant, this will just be an additional stress on the body. Let your body heal a little first, then add in the exercise.
  • When you do exercise, do only sprints and weight lifting. Walk or swim if you want to but don’t do cardio just for the sake of cardio. It’s just a stress on the body. High intensity and weight lifting, on the other hand, give the hormone benefits of working out without the stress from excess cardio and are great after the first few weeks. Also, workout in the evening, not the morning, to support hormone levels.
  • Remove toxins from your life as these are a stress on your body. There will be more specifics on how to accomplish this in the next few weeks, but getting rid of processed foods, commercial deodorants (make your own) and comercial soap (use microfiber) will go a long way!
  • Eat (or take) more Omega-3s (fish, grassfed meats, chia seeds) and minimize your Omega-6 consumption (vegetable oils, conventional meats, grains, etc) to get lower inflammation and help support healthy leptin levels.

Avoid Wrinkles & Protect Your Eyes at the Same Time

I would imagine that most people never give it a thought about their eyes and how a precious gift it is to have clear vision and be able to see! Our eyes are one of the most precious resources we have and to loose site (no pun intended) of this could create the cost of not seeing clearly or at all.

Squinting or tears from bright outdoor light- This is a defense mechanism to protect the eyes from the UVA ray. that can over time cause permanent damage including certain eye diseases. "In order to prevent diseases from affecting your eyes, you must wear sunglasses that are at least UV400, and keep your eyes shaded as much as possible."

So the common sense solution is to wear sunglasses. Less squinting equals fewer fine lines and crow’s-feet! Pick a pair that looks great as well as give you the best protection.  I love the aviator style sun glasses. RayBan as some really cool styles. Why do you think pilots for decades where that shape!!!

Not only will wearing sunglasses protect the delicate skin around your eyes from the sun, but it’ll also help prevent squinting, which directly contributes to wrinkling.

Hey Mom's out there .....here's another reason to consider your children and introducing them to wearing sun glasses. It's in fashion plus you will help them protect their eyes and protect their skin around their eyes as well!

3 Steps to Help Keep Your Skin Smooth, Soft and Hydrated for the Spring and Summer

Here are 3 easy and basic steps to you skin routine that will keep you feeling fresh, smooth and hydrated for spring and summer.

Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize

Cleanse :

Cleansing is a vital part of the skincare regimen. Throughout the day and as we sleep, our body produces and accumulates waste. In order to purify, refresh and maintain the skin, it needs to be thoroughly cleaned. The more mature the skin, the deeper the crevices for dirt to hide. Without a great cleanser, debris builds, clogging pores, inhibiting regular collagen production, and enhancing lines and wrinkles.

Toner:

Toner is a key step in an effective skincare regime - it follows the application of the cleanser. Think of a toner as your back up to ensure all traces of dire and impurities have been removed, allowing skin t breathe and generate the proper collage, elastin and moisture needed for healthy, glowing, youthful-looking skin.

Moisturizer:

After using toner, remember to moisturize. Moisturizer protects the skin by locking in natural moisture, which is vital in the fight against the signs of aging. A good quality face moisturizer will help to hydrate all skin types. Despite popular belief, people with oily skin types should still moisturize. During the day choose a dedicated moisturizer which is usually lighter in texture and often ‘carries’ environmental protectors such as antioxidants and SPFs. Complement your day cream with a night cream to aid the restoring and renewing processes of your skin while you sleep

Additional Considerations for your skin care regime:

You may want to use a serum to help to give you additional protection against the environment and the natural aging process. Look for one that provides a strong antioxidant, hydrates, promotes healthy skin elasticity and firmness and healthy cell growth for a smooth radiant looking skin.

5 Foods that Keep You Going!

5 Foods That Help Keep You Energized

We know that UnFranchise® owners are very busy people who work from dawn to dusk – and then some! Since running out of energy just isn’t an option for you, feeding your body well is essential. So rather than reaching for yet another cup o’ joe, here is our list of 5 energy-rich foods you should incorporate into your diet.

Eggs
Did you know that eggs contain the highest complete form of protein than any other food? And don’t think that protein is only good for maintaining muscle mass; protein is essential for keeping your energy levels up, keeping you fuller longer, and it doesn’t cause a spike your blood sugar. Whether you eat eggs scrambled or sunny side up, choosing eggs for breakfast is a great way to start your day off right!

Brown rice
Why is brown rice so much healthier for you than white rice? It all goes back to the way the grains are manufactured. White rice starts out brown, but it’s milled to remove the outer layer of the grain where the fiber and nutrients reside. Less fiber means your body converts the carbohydrates into glucose (“energy”) faster than your body needs, causing a spike in excess blood sugar. And when your blood sugar spikes, you can bank on an energy crash an hour or two later. Brown rice on the other hand retains all of the nutrients found in the outer layer of the grain, which helps keep you full without spiking your blood sugar.
Water
Yes, we know that water is not technically a food, but if you want to keep your energy levels up, you have to drink up. When you’re dehydrated, your cells use energy less efficiently, which causes fatigue. To ensure that you’re drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day, keep a bottle on your desk, in your car, and anywhere else that will make it easy to reach for. Juices, sodas, and coffee are not substitutes for H2O, but feel free to dress your water up with lemon slices or mint to make it more palatable.
Nuts
Did you know that cashews, almonds, and hazelnuts are rich in protein and magnesium, a mineral that helps convert sugar into energy? If you feel like you’re running low on energy, try incorporating more magnesium- rich foods into your diet. If getting enough magnesium proves to be challenging for you, incorporating a magnesium supplement into your diet might be the way to go.
Fresh fruits
Snacking on fresh fruit will help keep you energized, satiated, and hydrated. Apples, strawberries, and pears are great choices because of their high fiber, good carbs, healthy nutrients, and water content. Go a step further and combine fresh fruit with a source of healthy fat and protein for a well-rounded snack that will keep your energy levels up while keeping hunger away for hours. For example: snack on apples slices with a serving of natural peanut butter, or try pairing a pear with a few squares of cheddar cheese.

These are our favorite foods for staying energized, but we want to hear from you! Tell us in the comments below what you like to snack on to keep you going all day long!

How to Create Happiness in Your Life

Happiness

How happy you with your life? Are you just letting others think you are happy but deep down you’re not 100% happy and not sure why the prosperity, abundance and good things that you want and deserve are not occurring yet?

I understand and  have learned over the years that being happy is a state of consciousness. It's a state of well being that is not just needed for the mind, but for heart and sole. Its’ a state of mind that we can either choose to be or not, but in the end it’s always an individual choice as to how one will react or respond to a circumstance or situation. This reflects exactly how the body is doing as well as our outer appearance!

For example, one can either decide when they wake up in the morning and something happens to either say to themselves, “oh, it’s going to be one of those days.” or “Yup, another crappy day ahead”.  Maybe the coffee pot overflowed and you noticed it when you got into the kitchen. Or may you woke up to your cat having a ‘hairball’ on the bed and you know you have to clean it up! What ever the circumstance is being pissed off at the world because there was coffee in the pot or forgeting to dump it the night before, are choices. Instead, just say, ‘oh well, let me clean it’ and not give any more thought, other than, “hey it’s not the end of world and what’s big deal ….see where I’m going with this? Use your emotions for positive things.

We all experience life struggles (the negatives) and I don’t have to list them. But you don’t have to let your day control you.  Additional, you don’t have to let other people’s negativity affect you where you may even start mouthing off to others around you.
Take Control of your thoughts

The key are your thoughts. Thoughts are things and what ever thoughts you have and put out there they will come back to you and or your circumstance in other negative forms.
Now let’s break that down. It does not matter whether your thoughts are positive or negative, you will get what you have asked for even though you didn’t come right out and ask to sit in a traffic jam, while it’s raining and you’re appointment was expecting you 20 minutes ago!  Understand there must have been some negative thought (s) or action (s) that created this outcome!

Here are 5 daily actions that can bring more happiness, positive outcomes and calmness in your life.

1. Gratitude

Being grateful for the things and your loved ones that are in your life is key #1 to changing the mindset to thinking positive and instilling good feelings.  If your the type of person that needs to write it down, than go for it. Everyday, write down 3 things your are grateful for. If you really want to kick start your day, before getting out of bed, think about who and what around you that you are grateful and appreciative for. It can be the roof over your head, if you have a cat or dog, think of them and how they give you unconditional love, or being appreciative of having a computer to receive information from, like this post! Bottom line-learn to say thank you all during the day and you will see a big change in your life for the better!

2. Understand “Thoughts are Things”

If you are having negative thoughts either about your self or something you saw, hear or participating in gossip (yes, that is drawing negativity to you),  STOP! Reverse your thoughts and actions to something positive [thoughts].
For example, if you say to yourself, “Oh, I hope there’s no traffic jam or accident while driving to work”. You are actually putting the thought out there that of course there is going to be issues with you getting to work on time. Instead, put the thought out there by knowing, “Hey, this is going to be a great day to drive and will enjoy it. Plus, I am going to get the perfect parking spot!” See the difference

3. Be Creative

When you use your imagination, you can create what ever it is. The Law of Attraction works with our power of thought. Just use these 3 simple steps in your creative process: Ask, Believe, and Receive.

4. Exercise

Exercise does both the body and mind good! Exercising releases endorphins create good feelings as well as lots of great energy! If you are not sure where to start with an exercise program, feel free to contact me and I would be happy to assist. Here are some ideas: take a walk, get up from the computer and use your stairs to go up and down at a comfortable pace and then stretch. If you don’t have stairs, walk around the house or apt. (if walking outside is not conducive) and stretch before sitting back down. Take your dog for an extra walk and or play with him or her outside and move around. Start doing push ups! (These are great because it will raise the heart rate, as well as provide resistant work to the muscles! Just get the body moving!

5. Smile – Kindness Goes a Long Way

I love this! When you around others, give a smile, ask them, “how are you?” and see how YOU make them smile, and hear them reply, “Oh, I’m good.., how are you.” It’s natural for humans to reflect back the same question. But here’s where you can make a world of difference and feel so good and happy. When they ask you the same question,  just reply with a smile, ” I’m better for your asking.” I guarantee you that the exchange of positive energy will be enormous and you will feel such gratitude for the experience!
You can take this one step further and perform one random act of kindness daily. Help out a stranger, compliment a friend, or simply tell someone you care about them. This is an incredible service to you and others.
HappyRd

When you decide to create a positive path for yourself and stay focus all is well...

This DYI is great for the Winter Season, however, now we are in Spring of 2013, but many still have the sniffles, or getting over those winter blues and this DYI Vapor Shower Disks is perfect to kick out any upper respiratory that is still lingering....

Plus this beats the cost of actually buying one from Vick's Vapor (very expensive)!!

You need:
-Baking soda

-Muffin tin
-Muffin liners
Directions:
1) Add baking soda to a mixing bowl.
2) Slowly add water until you’ve made a thick paste. Updated to add: add just a little water a time. You’ll want the mix to feel like putty.
3) Add 15 drops of each essential oil.

Red Wine Compound Activates Gene Needed for Healthy Cells – ‘Could Help Humans Live until they are 150′

New drug being developed using compound found in red wine ‘could help humans live until they are 150′
I found this very interesting. Imagine living that long, and being able to get all that you wanted accomplished while having good health along the path of longevity.

This is exciting research and many of us already take resveratrol and or have red wine in our daily diets. Read on so you can decide what you think. I’ve shared my view point at the end of the post, so feel free to share what you think after getting the facts.

Scientists at Harvard University believe that drugs containing resveratrol, found in red wine, can combat aging and prevent diseases including cancer and diabetes.

The new drugs are synthetic versions of resveratrol which is found in red wine and is believed to have an anti-aging effect as it boosts activity of a protein called SIRT1.

Drugs that could combat aging and help people to live to 150-years-old may be available within five years, following landmark research.
Pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline has been testing the medications on patients suffering with medical conditions including cancer, diabetes and heart disease.
The work proves that a single anti-aging enzyme in the body can be targeted, with the potential to prevent age-related diseases and extend lifespans.
As each of the 117 drugs tested work on the single enzyme through a common mechanism is means that a whole new class of anti-aging drugs is now viable, which could ultimately prevent cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and type 2 diabetes.
Genetics professor David Sinclair, based at Harvard University, said: ‘Ultimately, these drugs would treat one disease, but unlike drugs of today, they would prevent 20 others.
‘In effect, they would slow ageing.’
The target enzyme, SIRT1, is switched on naturally by calorie restriction and exercise, but it can also be enhanced through activators.
The most common naturally-occurring activator is resveratrol, which is found in small quantities in red wine, but synthetic activators with much stronger activity are already being developed.
Although research surrounding resveratrol has been going on for a decade, until now the basic science had been contested. Harvard scientists said they have settled a debate over whether a compound found in red wine activates a gene that keeps cells healthy.

Red wine or Resveratrol supplements is a great way to help fight the diseases and keep  blood balanced as well as helping with cholesterol.  If you are not sure which supplements have the highest quality of resveratrol contact me so I may share with you what I know and works.

In my opinion, there is no need to put synthetics into the body, when nature has already provided that for us. The Resveratrol is found in grapes and of course red wine. So go ahead and enjoy that glass of wine!

Remember, to take care of yourself is not just about what you use on your face, but what you put into the body to fuel it properly so that it can continue in strength, health, and beauty.
